Tribute to Sholape

Semiyu Animashawun

I met my late wife in the summer of 1979 through a friend (late Shola Agboola) at a birthday party. She was an epitome of beauty and humility; we shared a love that lasted for 30 years until she passed on July 15th, 2009.

To continue her legacy, we created SAF in 2010 giving grants to students with Sickle Cell for their post-secondary education in Canada, although none of us have the disease, this organization is now registered in Nigeria. Why SCAGO/Grant? Before her death, Sholape was a volunteer in the organization and Islam narrates that charity is one of the ways to immortalize a deceased family member. Since 2010, my family has donated over $20,000 towards various initiatives. SAF does not discriminate against race, religion or gender.
